2- Gentle And Extra Solutions
For a very simple household dog ear cleaner that will keep your puppy’s ears soft, supple, and protected, you can use a glycerin mixture.
Composition:
- Small container
- Glycerin (use natural brands such as Noble Roots)
- Boric acid
Manual:
- Mix 1 tablespoon of glycerin with 2 tablespoons of boric acid.
This is a simple mixture that you can apply with the help of a cotton ball. Boric acid breaks down the buildup of dirt while reducing humidity and the possibility of ear infections in dogs. The glycerin then covers and calms the dog’s skin so it doesn’t get too dry.
3- Combinations Of Witches
Here is another ear cleaner, similar to the ones mentioned above, made with vinegar and boric acid to clean dog ears and maintain a healthy pH level. The witch hazel here soothes dog ears.
Composition:
- White vinegar or apple cider vinegar (Bragg is an inexpensive organic brand)
- Old witch
- Boric acid
Manual:
- Pour 1/4 cup water and 1/4 cup vinegar into a bowl
- Add 1 tablespoon of witch hazel
- Add 2 tablespoons of boric acid
- Shake well
Note: Alternatively, if you can fix another ingredient and don’t have it, you can simply mix 2 tablespoons of boric acid in 1/2 cup of water and use it.
4- Light But Effective
A very mild home remedy for dog ears can be made with just vinegar and water or, alternatively, apple cider vinegar and water along with a little alcohol to wipe isopropyl.
Composition:
- Empty bottle
- Apple cider vinegar
- Isopropyl alcohol for friction
Manual:
- Pour 4 tablespoons of plain water into a bottle that can be closed tightly.
- Add 2 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar
- Add 3-4 drops of rubbing alcohol to isopropyl
- Close the bottle and shake it well
Note: If you are rubbing alcohol stings, avoid using isopropyl alcohol entirely for a gentler solution. The vinegar and water will still help clean your dog’s ears and stabilize the pH.
