Apple cider vinegar is a strong detergent and can be used as a gentle solution for homemade dog ear cleaner. This is a great solution for dogs with ears, such as dogs. B. Bassett Hounds who have to clean the ears frequently.
Composition:
- Apple cider vinegar
Manual:
- Mix 2/3 cup water and 1/3 cup apple cider vinegar

Hydrogen peroxide is also a useful remedy for wax buildup in your dog’s ears. When the hydrogen peroxide starts to work, the wax will flush out of the dog’s ear canal. However, it can tickle the dog’s ears. So be prepared to shake your head a lot.
Composition:
- 3% hydrogen peroxide (Dealmed is the cheap brand we use)
Manual:
- Mix 2 tablespoons of water with 2 tablespoons of hydrogen peroxide
Note: Hydrogen peroxide can also be combined with some of the household cleaners for dogs mentioned above. For example, 2 tablespoons of white vinegar mixed with 2 tablespoons of 3% hydrogen peroxide and a few drops of isopropyl alcohol. This solution is great for cleaning wax from your dog’s ears and cleaning out any more visible areas.
