How to Make Your Pet Maltese Live Longer

4-Heart disease

Hearing conditions are the leading cause of death in Malta. Some of the symptoms to look for in your malt puppy include stunted growth, difficulty breathing, constant fatigue, and irregular heartbeat. If detected early, surgery can help correct them and prevent cardiovascular damage and even heart failure.

5-Progressive retinal atrophy

Another disease affecting Malta is progressive retinal atrophy. This is a hereditary condition that can cause loss of vision during the day or at night. The symptoms of this disease in this breed are not easily recognized because this condition only occurs when the dog becomes an adult.

Some of the most common PRA symptoms are collisions with objects, loss of vision, and dilated pupils. Unfortunately, there is currently no cure for this condition.

By adding a supplement to your Maltese it can stop the worsening of vision loss. Ask the breeder for a certificate showing the puppy’s eye condition.

This condition is common in dog breeds – dog breeds come first, but the survival rate in this condition is high at 95%. Some of the symptoms that occur are poor muscle development, spasms, etc.

This condition is evident between the ages of one and six years and symptoms can range from mild to severe tremors. However, this condition can be treated with steroids that can control severe tremors.
